About Paintings
My imagination revels in the delicacy and clarity of linear and spatial expression. The choreography begins by 'dancing' a line through space and across my paper or canvas. Lines and spaces are my characters. Together we discover ways of interacting playfully, cooperatively and even disturbingly, whether the work is two dimensional or three.
From the late 1990's until 2003, I was one of three artists involved in an interactive drawing experiment. We had our own rules and format; the subject was always line; we produced a substantial body of work. That is when and how I found my voice, audibly and graphically. I enjoyed drawing for the first time!
In my two dimensional works, I layer the imagery: I may start with views of and through glass block. Line is essential. The work of Joan Miró finds its way into mine, sometimes deliberately.
